Non-inversion tillage

Event Date : October 27, 2011

Organised by: Organic Research Centre Participative Research and Demonstration Network
Location: Duchy Home Farm, Broadfield Farm, Cherrington Lane, Tetbury GL8 8SE

Following the inaugural meeting of the Participative Research and Demonstration Network in July at Abbey Home Farm, we will be holding a workshop based on one of the projects which have interested many farmers and researchers during the last few years. This practical workshop will bring us up to date on the experiences of Non Inversion Tillage (NIT) in the UK and in particular discuss the development of better machinery and techniques suitable for use in our soils and climate. It will draw on the experiences of two years of operation of the Eco Dyn at the Duchy Home Farm and intensive monitoring by Organic Research Centre, plus the experiences of other farmers using NIT cultivators. It will involve machinery manufacturer Claydon who will help identify suitable equipment and any development needs. The workshop is for farmers and others with experience in NIT and those interested in adopting the system.

Further information and booking form can be obtained from Gillian Woodward at ORC.
