Troubleshooting the practical challenges of intercropping

Event Date : February 9, 2021

Event Time : 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Intercropping offers promising opportunities to improve sustainability, reduce pest and disease burden, and enhance the resilience of agricultural systems to stresses such as climate change and market pressures. There are practical challenges, however, in growing, harvesting and processing mixed crops. As part of their work in the DIVERSify project, Stockbridge Technology Centre undertook an analysis of the technical and technological solutions to these challenges. These troubleshooting solutions will be presented at the event and discussed with a panel of industry experts and meeting participants to prioritise future efforts in addressing technology gaps.

Presentations and Discussion panel chaired by Dr David George, Reader in Precision Agronomy at Newcastle University

Andy Howard: farmer in Kent with intercropping expertise

Doug Christie: farmer in Scotland with intercropping expertise

Graham Rowe: Trials Equipment (UK) Ltd

Andrew Manfield: Manterra Ltd
