Free farm resilience support and advice

We’re pleased to be part of a successful collaborative bid to Defra’s Future Farming Resilience Fund led by the Landworkers Alliance and partnering with the Pasture-Fed Livestock Association (PFLA). This fund aims to support farmers and land managers in England as they transition away from the Basic Payment Scheme, to ensure long-term business resilience and involvement in future ELM payments.

With our project partners we will initially be developing a series of online educational resources for up to 500 farmers, including toolkits, webinars and farm visits. A proportion of these 500 will then be eligible to go on for more in depth and one-to-one mentoring and advisory services.

Mentors will be trained, paid and drawn from our farming community network. Paid advisors will also be able to assist participating farmers in evaluating their whole farm business model, identifying ways to help the farm business become more resilient as BPS tapers down. ORC’s contribution is going to be on impact measurement, helping with learning resources including some webinars, and advisory support.

The project runs for a six month period from September 2021 until March 2022.
