Recording of the workshop at Groundswell 2024 on living mulches with ORC’s Matt Smee and Matt England of the Fring Estate. This Groundswell session took a deep dive into how to effectively use living mulches (permanent legume covers) in arable rotations. It covers the challenges of setting up living mulch systems and the elements you need to consider to establish living mulches. They talk about on-farm research and what it is telling us about the impacts these systems have on yields, soil health, weed populations, and beneficial insect populations.
