Soil Association Certification held its annual Organic Trade Conference in October. The line-up featured keynote speaker, Professor Dave Goulson, alongside research experts at The Crow Flies, as well as the latest UK organic market figures from NielsenIQ and many other top industry experts.

“Some valuable insights were provided by speakers at the Soil Association’s 2022 Organic Trade Conference into the threat the cost-of-living crisis is for growth in the organic sector. We’ve seen in the findings presented that committed organic customers intend to keep purchasing organic despite this crisis. There is a role for research to better provide organic food retailers with ways of increasing their base of committed customers so that they are more resilient. It would be interesting to explore customer retention across different food retail business models during this crisis.”
