An introductory workshop on microbial life: If you can measure it, you can manage it

The one day course will cover

  • Introduction to the Soil Food Web and microbiological management principles
  • Anatomy of a microscope and how to select a suitable model
  • Using and maintaining the microscope
  • How to collect soil, compost and compost tea samples and prepare these for analysis
  • Undertaking qualitative analysis of soil, compost and compost tea
  • A look and discussion around the effects of human intervention on soil life and ways to minimise negative effects of our actions on soil microbes
