Event Date : November 3, 2025 - May 5, 2025
Event Location : Organic House, Rue Marie-Thérèse 11, Brussels
The 2025 Organic Innovation Days will take place on 3-5 November in the Organic House in Brussels (Rue Marie-Thérèse 11) under the title “Research & Innovation for organic food and farming: triple lead for sustainable food systems“.
TP Organicsʹ annual public event and the only EU event on organic and agroecological research and innovation (R&I) will feature the official launch of our new Strategic Research & Innovation Agenda (SRIA) for Organics and Agroecology but also the final conference of the OrganicTargets4EU project and the award ceremony organised by OrganicAdviceNetwork. Both Horizon Europe projects are coordinated by IFOAM Organics Europe and are key to advance the organic sector.
The new TP Organics SRIA that is being developed since the TP Organics Science Day at BIOFACH 2024 is defining the R&I needs of the organic and agroecological sector that should be funded under the next EU R&I Framework Programme (FP10). It is equally outlining the R&I needs for the transition of EU food and farming systems. Throughout 2024-2025, TP Organics has gathered input and ideas from stakeholders at both European and national level in a broad bottom-up consultation process.
The Horizon Europe project OrganicTargets4EU (2022-2026) aims to reach 25% of agricultural land under organic farming and a significant increase in organic aquaculture by 2030. The EU Farm to Fork Strategy and the EU Biodiversity Strategy, as part of the European Green Deal, aim to ensure a fair, healthy, and environmentally friendly food system within the European Union. Both strategies recognize the crucial role of organic farming and organic aquaculture in achieving this objective.
Similarly, OrganicAdviceNetwork supports reaching the Farm to Fork target of 25% organic farmland, which requires the entry of about 700,000 new farmers into the organic sector, more than doubling of the current organic land area and a substantial increase in supply chains and the complete range of support services. Advisors with organic competences are essential to reach the 25% target. The sector needs about 15,000 advisors in the EU who can support the new organic farmers. OrganicAdviceNetwork is creating a strong European network of experienced and new advisors with organic farming expertise, offering in-person and online knowledge exchange and training. Moreover, the project will strengthen the development of organic advice through policy recommendations.
Moreover, TP Organics is again teaming up with CORE Organic, the transnational network of ministries and research councils that funds organic research. The current CORE Organic Pleiades is an international network of 43 partners in 27 countries/regions, that joins forces to fund transnational research projects within the area of organic food and farming. The network is implemented under the Horizon Europe project OrganicTargets4EU. The CORE Organic Pleiades network period began on 1 September 2022 and will end on 1 February 2026.
