The first outbreak of bird flu in the European Union this year has been confirmed (January 24th) after the European Commission said the highly pathogenic H5N1 strain had been found in dead geese in Hungary.
The Hungarian authorities said the outbreak of highly pathogenic avian influenza is in Csongrad County, southeast Hungary.
