Potato virus Y: epidemiology, control and virus-host interactions

Acronym : PVY Control

Contract Period : 01/01/2010 - 31/12/2012

Main Funder : Finnish Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry

ORC Staff Contact : Thomas Döring

The project conducts a monitoring programme for Potato virus Y and its vectors in Northern Finland in order to design viable virus control options for seed potato production.

Project Aims:

The project aims to determine the incidence and phenology of aphid species with documented ability to transmit PVY in the High grade seed potato zone of Northern Finland and to determine their relative importance as vectors of PVY.

ORC's Role:

Thomas Döring is co-supervising PhD student Sascha Kirchner.
