EFRC has been lobbying hard on the issue of vaccination to protect poultry from the threat of the H5N1 Avian Flu. Following remarks from the Government’s chief scientific adviser, Professor David King, that if needs be he is prepared to sacrifice outdoor and organic poultry in the cause of disease control, the lobbying has been stepped up.
EFRC is pro preventative vaccination to protect outdoor and organic poultry from the threat of infection when migrating wildfowl return to these shores next autumn. The alternative is locking up birds and throwing away the key for five years or more.
