European organic market data network started

On 1st February 2012, the Organic Research Centre began work on the EU-funded European Data Network for Improved Transparency of Organic Markets (OrganicDataNetwork) project. This three year project is led by Raffaele Zanoli from the Universita Politechnica della Marche in Ancona, Italy. It involves research and industry partners from Italy, Switzerland, Germany, Czech Republic, France, Spain, Estonia, Turkey and UK.

The project aims to increase the transparency of the European organic food market through better availability of market intelligence about the sector to meet the needs of stakeholders involved in organic markets.

ORC’s role will be to lead two sections of the project: developing an inventory of organic market data collectors and carrying out case studies on improving data quality. The case studies will be carried out in Germany, France, Italy, Czech Republic, the Mediterranean region and the UK.
